Both you and your employer contribute a percentage of your basic salary (plus dearness allowance) to EPF every month, and the accumulated balance earns interest declared annually by the EPFO. This calculator projects your EPF corpus over time.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter your current basic salary + DA.
- Enter your current age and expected retirement age (or number of years to project).
- Confirm the contribution rate and current EPF interest rate (pre-filled from admin settings, editable).
- View your projected EPF corpus.
How the Calculation Works
Each month, employee and employer contributions (a portion of the employer share is diverted to EPS, pension scheme, up to a wage ceiling) are added to the EPF balance, and interest is credited annually on the running balance at the EPFO-declared rate — configured in admin settings since it changes each year.
Worked Example
The exact growth trajectory depends on the interest rate currently configured for the projection — use the calculator above with your own basic salary and time horizon to see a year-wise projection.
Who Should Use This
Salaried employees who want to estimate their retirement corpus from EPF alone, separate from other investments like PPF or NPS.
Important Considerations
The EPF interest rate is declared by the EPFO annually and is not fixed — this calculator uses a rate configured in admin settings that must be kept current. Actual EPS (pension) allocation, wage ceiling rules and withdrawal conditions can affect real balances.
Common Mistakes
Assuming the full employer contribution goes into your EPF balance is inaccurate — a portion is usually diverted to the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS) up to a wage ceiling.
